Course overview

This really enjoyable course combines language lessons in the morning with art history classes and activities in the afternoon. The main focus is on Florentine Renaissance and includes visits to museums and art galleries and discussions and lectures on the rich history of Italian art. The course is held in Italian.

Art History Module

Students are given an overview of the main art historical periods from Romanesque to Mannerism in Architecture and the peculiar Florentine  interpretation of the Gothic style to the wonderful fourteenth century paintings of Cimabue and Giotto.

Some of the programme is classroom based although many of the classes are held in situ within museums, art galleries and churches to bring the art history truly alive

Italian Language Module

In the morning study is in a small group and covers all aspects of the language with a particular emphasis on developing communicative skills in speaking and writing.

Each group is taught by two teachers a day in order to ensure more varied and stimulating instruction.

Classes are lively, stimulating and most of all enjoyable. Students are provided with useful vocabulary and relevant grammar presented in a modern and interesting way.
