Melbourne, Australia

Melbourne is considered Australia's capital of culture, and both "the world's most liveable city" and "the world's ultimate sporting city".

Clearly, Melbourne is a city of superlatives – it has to be, the author’s mother was from the exclusive suburb of Toorak! The descendants of  the  world famous Wilkinson family still live in Melbourne. Sir Michael Wilkinson, one of Melbourne's leading entrepreneurs, is also one of Australia's foremost long distance vintage car rally drivers. Wilkinson's rally car, which rather cheekily was promoting Australia as the world's number one cricketing nation, (when we all know Australia was long since knocked of that perch), recently came first in the Beijing to Paris road race.

One thing is for certain, you will never be short of things to do, with the city's many cultural events and its packed sporting calendar. Melbourne is renowned for its live music concerts, catering to all tastes. All this is set in a city which mixes historic Victorian architecture and stunning modern architecture to great effect - Melbourne is unique and unforgettable. We think you will not want to leave. It really is that good and we really are not biased – well maybe a bit biased!
