The GLS German Language School is located in the historic centre of Berlin, in trendy "Prenzlauer Berg". Around 1900 this district used to be home, if home is the right word, to the poor and destitute of Berlin.

Student residence
The campus residence has good sized bedrooms that accommodate between two and four students. Residential stay. In fact the Residential Stay embodies the GLS philosophy for summer schools. By living together 24 hours/ day, students can truly immerse themselves in an international, multicultural environment practicing their German even outside the classroom
Homestay
In the context of GLS and Berlin "host family" does not necessarily mean, that you´ll be staying with a traditional family. Your hosts can be couples (married or not) as well as singles, with or without kids. More relevant is that they are friendly and open and that they are willing to spend time with you.
All hosts have been inspected, and many have been hosting GLS students for several years.
Distance from host family to GLS - Host families can be between 5 and 50 (!) minutes by bus, metro or bicycle.
Listed below are the type of facilities you can expect when staying with a GLS recommended host family in Berlin:
- transfer to airport or station upon arrival and departure (by car or public transport)
- single room with bed, table and closet
- own key
- linen & towels
- shared bathroom
- use of washing machine: not included, but some hosts let you use it
- breakfast and dinner (Note - dinner is at GLS and not with your host family)
