LILA Love to Learn: Liverpool
LILA* was established in 2004 as an independent language school by two entrepreneurial and dynamic sisters. Since then the school has gone from strength to strength, and LILA now boasts a brand new, custom designed school in the heart of Liverpool city centre.
We think the school is really special. It offers students the opportunity to learn English in contemporary surroundings with the very best learning facilities, providing everything that a student could possibly wish for: quality teaching, value for money, wide range of courses, a great location, personal service and comprehensive social programme will all help shape your experience.
Facilities
Vibrant Common Room
When you’re relaxing between classes why not head over to the common room? It’s a place for you to chat with your friends, check your emails and get a quick bite to eat from our vending machine. Check what’s the latest on the social blackboard and leave messages for your friends.
IT Suite
LILA* students like to study hard as well as play hard. So the team at LILA have made sure that students have access to a self study IT Suite. Rather than checking your emails and catching up on the news from home, the IT Suite is available to encourage students to work outside the classroom.
Book Swap Library
There is nothing quite like reading to improve your knowledge of a language. Want to settle down with a bit of Harry Potter or a real piece of classic English literature? On the second floor you’ll find the book swap library which is there for students to pick up new books and drop off the old.
Lending Library
Unlike the LILA* book swap library, the lending library is for you to borrow books or DVDs for a short time; they must be returned before you leave. This collection includes guided readers and dvds and can be found in the academic office.
Quiet Reading Area
Want a little peace and quiet? The quiet reading area is part of the Book Swap Library and is a great place to get some quiet studying done.
Wireless Internet
There is free wireless internet access throughout the school.

Every classroom has a Liverpool theme and they display the best of the city. Which one is your favourite?
Artwork
You won’t be able to help but notice the amazing photography and art work which is scattered throughout the school; it’s like studying in a gallery! Take a stroll through the school and see the best of what Liverpool has to offer and see how the city looked in times gone by.
Prayer Room
LILA* has a small prayer room on the second floor which is available to all students.
Activity and Excursion programme
LILA* offer an outstanding excursion and activity programme. You are encouraged to involve yourself as much as possible. It is after all the best way to experience life in England and see the many attractions that are on offer. Each week the school posts the activity programme on the blackboard in the Students’ Common Room where you’ll find the social activities blackboard. So don’t forget to sign up for some of the wonderful activities on offer.
Making the most of your time in Liverpool
Visiting a new country can be the experience of a lifetime and we want to make sure that you enjoy it as much as possible. Of course, you are not just here to have fun but to also improve your English skills! To do this we would advise you to speak English as much as much as you can while you are here, even if you and your friends speak the same language. Take the time to chat to the members of LILA* staff and your hosts if you are staying with a native family. It also important that you attend as many of your classes as possible and for you to arrive on time.
English Club
Want to practice your English outside the classroom? Join your fellow students and teachers once a week and learn in a relaxed atmosphere. The LILA English Club also runs sessions on practical issues like applying to university and how to find a job.
