Course overview

This French for Teachers of French course will help you broaden your knowledge of French and boost your teaching skills in equal measure. In addition it will help you to update your understanding of contemporary France and the French language, with like minded teaching professionals from around the world.

The course encourages teachers to reflect on their teaching methods and share ideas and teaching experience with teachers from other cultures.

Not only does the course aim to help you develop your teaching techniques it will also focus on classroom dynamics and how best to manage and develop pupils with a range of abilities.

The course is made up of the following modules:

  • Questions & Answer practice
  • Classroom methodology
  • Language and language development
  • Using multimedia materials
  • Best practice in the classroom

Each module will give you the opportunity for reflection and discussion - how will what is being talked about work in your environment?  Participants are actively encouraged to discuss and reflect on these issues both orally and in writing. 

The course is also designed to help you further strengthen your linguistic, written, oral expression and comprehension skills and you will gain practical tips on how best to deliver these in the classroom. 

Students will be actively encouraged to share and discuss best practice from their own experience within their own teaching environments. 

 

 

Afternoon and evening activities 

Afternoon activities will include some group based educational activities as well as some guided cultural visits.

Paris is bursting with culture and great places to eat and drink and it is highly likely that some evening activities may involve a glass of some rather good French wine. Optional of course !

Classroom based afternoon discussions will focus on topics raised by the group as well as looking at, and reflecting on, the study of linguistics and socio cultural developments in France through the prism of the press, cinema, French literature and music

Outcomes

After the two week course the aim is that you will leave with ideas and processes that are directly applicable in the classroom, and have an appreciation of new teaching materials and ideas.

Students who complete the programme will receive a certificate of attendance as well as a final report.
