Course overview
Lessons focus on English Language development. In the mornings you will study, integrated skills, learner training and study skills and in the afternoons there is a focus on English for Academic Purposes (EAP) plus Examination skills for TOEFL, IELTS and Cambridge (FCE, CAE,CPE)
Course content
Accuracy and fluency skills: grammar, listening, speaking, reading and writing activities, conversation practice, role plays, debates, discussions, presentations
English for Academic Purposes and Examination skills: note-taking, research, IELTS and Cambridge Examination preparation.
Your teachers have high expectations and encourage you to work hard both inside and outside the classroom, with regular homework tasks and weekly progress tests
Learning resources
Situated in the heart of the College and open throughout the year, the extensive resources of the library are made available to all summer students. The large facility houses all the texts required for the full range of IB subjects and is a rich source of information and inspiration.
The school also has an extensive collection of IB past papers and is an invaluable resource for Diploma teachers and students. ICT facilities, including high speed internet access, are available to students within the library and locations throughout the college.
Student progress
Progress in class is monitored by the relevant class teachers and the Course Director. Students receive a written report for all classes taken. These reports detail the work covered and comment upon performance and ability in the subject. All teaching materials are included in the course fees.

Study outside the classroom
Every summer student is expected to spend some time in private study each evening, before activities begin. This enables students to consolidate work covered in the day and to prepare for the next day's studies.
Activities and Excursions
Members of the activities team are friendly, enthusiastic and always ready to help.
They prepare the busy schedule of excursions in advance but are always ready to respond to your suggestions for sports and social activities in the afternoons and evenings. There’s a vast range of options available.

Excursions
There is one full day excursion each week plus some half day excursions and some paid options. These may include:
Shuttle into Oxford with official guided walking tour.
Full day excursions include trips to Stonehenge, Windsor Castle and Stratford Upon Avon.
