Programme overview
After breakfast, classes take place from 9.00-13.00. Lunch is from 13.00-14.00. There are afternoon activities until about 17.30. Dinner is from 18.00-19.00 followed by quiet time to do homework and keep in touch with family and friends. There are activities on campus every evening
Course overview
There are fifteen lessons a week of General English plus five specific lessons each week related to London and its history and the wonderful things that are on your door step to discover.
English language module
The General English lessons include vocabulary sets, language skills practice and project work. Classes are energetic and aim to be insuring fun and enjoyable.
Students are encouraged to speak English from day one and much use is made of role play and group inter-action. Students also prepare for their special excursions in class.
Discover London module
Vocabulary sets including transport, the built environment, monarchy, government and infrastructure as well as the following:
- History of London
- London architectural styles
- History of Tower Bridge
- Using London Transport
Workshops and visits
You can look forward to the following:
- Sightseeing - visits with teachers to major London attractions
- Museum of London, Science Museum, British Museum
- Visit to the Royal Institute of British Architects Centre
- City of London Tour
Activities
As well as classes and the workshops and visits related to your chosen option there is also an action packed activity programme. Some of the activities you can look forward to include the following:
Language practice activities: Discover London is the theme
Guided walks: Regents Canal, Carnaby Street, Covent Garden Changing of the Guard and Royal London, Harry Potter Walk, Southbank, West End and Oxford Street.
Sports activities: tennis, football, baseball, basket ball and volleyball.
Evening activities include:
- Team challenges
- Karaoke
- Wii games
- Board games
- Film nights
- Welcome party
- Student exhibition
- Discos and farewell party.
Weekly excursions
Excursions take place in the London area where there is a wealth of attractions. Excursions may include a river trip to Greenwich, and bus or train to Hampton Court, Windsor, or Brighton.
All students take part in a bus tour of London sights or a visit to the London Eye.
